Free Sinhala Aluth Avurudu coloring pages: In my childhood, the Sinhala and Tamil New Year season was a very delightful time—more than just a holiday; it’s a vibrant tapestry of culture, gratitude, and togetherness. For preschoolers, this is the perfect time to develop their sensory skills, social sharing, and appreciation for tradition. 

The Sinhala and Tamil New Year used to be the happiest time of our lives. We had the school holidays and had a chance to play many games with friends, visit relatives, and swing (Onchili). We remember the thrill of Avurudu festivals, winning prizes, wearing brand-new clothes, and that special moment during the auspicious time (Nekatha) when we received ‘pocket money’ from our elders.

Sadly, many children today are ‘trapped’ behind the walls of modern life and don’t get to experience that same freedom. That is why I wanted to create these coloring pages—to bring a piece of that tradition into your home.

While these pages are a fun way for little ones to learn, I encourage you to take them out to the village or open spaces if you can. Let them feel the breeze, hear the Koha, and experience the true joy of our heritage. Let’s make sure they feel the spirit of the New Year, even in a changing world!”
